On Aug. 19, 1964, The Beatles start their first concert tour of North America at the Cow Palace in San Francisco. In front of over 17,000 screaming fans, the Beatles performed for 38 minutes. This was not their first appearance in the U.S. In February, the Fab Four appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show in New York City and drew 73 million TV viewers. In 1966, John, Paul, George and Ringo also played their final live concert in San Francisco’s Candlestick Park. |
