VIDEO: The class of 2020 will miss their commencement ceremonies due to coronavirus pandemic bans of all mass gatherings. Colleges and universities across the U.S. are offering alternative solutions. Some have rescheduled the ceremonies, while others are holding virtual graduations. For many students, however, the thrill of the moment is forever lost.
On This Day in American History
On May 6, 2004, over 51 million Americans tune into the last episode of the sitcom, Friends. The wildly popular show centered on six young people and their lives in New York City. The cast featured several unknown actors—among them Jennifer Aniston, Matthew Perry and Lisa Kudrow—who would become household names. The show won six Emmy Awards during its 10-year run, and it is still aired in syndication in nearly 100 countries.
Vietnam has reported few new coronavirus cases since mid-April. Now, schools are reopening, smaller restaurants are back in business, and traffic jams are forming again in the financial center, Ho Chi Minh City, as commuters head back to work.
Poonam Singh, who has been stranded in Mumbai without work and money since India imposed the world’s biggest pandemic lockdown, had his spirits lifted when the government announced last week that it would lift restrictions on travel and allow migrant labor to travel back to their villages.
