As the coronavirus continues to disrupt people’s lives, many are seeking greater spiritual nourishment. Religious institutions across the country are heeding that call by connecting with their congregations in a number of creative ways.

On This Day in American History
On March 27, 1939, the University of Oregon beats The Ohio State University to win the first NCAA men’s college basketball tournament. For 12 years, only eight teams played, but that number steadily grew, and today, 68 teams participate in “March Madness.” The tournament has become one of the most popular sporting events in the United States, with millions filling out tournament brackets trying to predict which team will win. Due to coronavirus concerns, this year’s tournament was cancelled.

A dozen Asian countries plan to offer economic stimulus aimed at helping companies cover lost business during the COVID-19 pandemic, but not all of them are expected to help employers retain workers and reopen once the outbreak subsides.

More than half a million people in Britain signed up to help the National Health Service cope with the coronavirus epidemic in just 24 hours. That followed a government call for volunteers Wednesday, as fears grow that the country’s outbreak is following a similar trajectory as that of Italy and Spain, where thousands of people have died.

COVID-19 has forced people all over the world to stay at home on strict quarantine, but some folks manage to find a way to stay positive.
