On March 2, 1904, beloved children’s book author Theodor Geisel is born in Springfield, Mass. Better known as Dr. Seuss, the author and illustrator penned classics such as “Green Eggs and Ham,” “The Cat in the Hat” and “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” Children of many generations have grown up with his books, which have sold over 200 million copies worldwide and counting. Dr. Seuss also wrote some titles for adults, but it was his children’s books with their iconic illustrations and amusing rhymes that drove his popularity. Geisel died September 24, 1991, at the age of 87. |
