During President Donald Trump’s visit to India, he and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said ties between the two countries were expanding in spheres ranging from defense, the energy sector and information technology, with Modi adding that a resurgent India would present new opportunities for the U.S.

On February 24, 1917, British officials give U.S. officials the Zimmerman Telegram. The intercepted telegram from the German Foreign Office to the Mexican government proposed an alliance between Mexico and Germany should the U.S. enter World War I. Specifically, Germany offered to give Mexico Texas, New Mexico and Arizona, territory Mexico lost to the U.S. after the Mexican-American War in 1848. While the German sinking of several U.S. ships had been shifting public opinion toward entering the war, the Zimmerman Telegram was the final straw. The U.S. declared war on Germany on April 6, 1917.

South Korean schools closed, and major events, including concerts and the opening of the top Korean football league, were indefinitely postponed Monday, as the country attempted to limit the spread of the coronavirus.

Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders won an emphatic victory in Saturday’s Nevada caucuses, strengthening his claim to the party nomination, but drawing protests from his challengers about his chances to defeat Republican President Donald Trump in November’s national election.

VIDEO: In this year’s Future City competition, more than 45,000 middle school students from around the U.S. and abroad participated in a contest to come up with a concept for a city with a reliable supply of clean water. The teams pitched their presentations in Washington, D.C., where the winning team and four runners-up were awarded prizes.

Tibetans in New York celebrated Saturday after it was announced an exhibit on life in Tibet, sponsored by the Chinese Consulate, was being shut down in the Queens borough of the city.
