On January 28, 1985, 45 of the biggest names in pop music gather to record the song “We Are the World,” in an effort to raise money for African famine relief. Among the many household names were Willie Nelson, Stevie Wonder, Tina Turner, Bob Dylan, Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie and Cyndi Lauper. The recording was produced by legend Quincy Jones.
