All 50 U.S. states are not equal when it comes to how much tax revenue they send to the federal government. The states that keep the government solvent are the ones where taxpayers contribute more than they get back. At the top of that list are Connecticut, New Jersey, Massachusetts and New York, which all receive 83 cents in federal spending for every dollar they contribute.

On This Day in American History
On March 1, 1961, the Peace Corps is established by President John F. Kennedy. The idea behind the Peace Corps was to send trained Americans to developing countries to provide social and economic assistance. The idea was well received, and within a week of its creation, thousands of letters of inquiry poured into Washington. To date, over 230,000 Americans have volunteered with the Peace Corps in over 140 countries.

The tension between India and Pakistan that led to both sides flexing their military muscles this week was triggered by a terror attack claimed by a U.S.-designated terror group based in Pakistan. India blames Jaish-e-Muhammad for the suicide attack. Here is what is known about the group.

Their so-called Caliphate lasted less than a half decade. A survey conducted by Nigeria’s Bureau of Statistics and UNICEF shows millions of households in Nigeria do not have access to clean water sources. While the supply of clean water in Nigeria has improved recently, three in 10 people still lack access.
