Former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz’s revelation this week that he is considering a run for the U.S. presidency as an independent candidate added an unexpected twist to the nascent 2020 campaign.

On This Day in American History
On Feb. 1, 1790, the Supreme Court of the United States meets for the first time in the Royal Exchange Building in New York City. The Court was established by Article Three of the U.S. Constitution, which became the law of the land in March of 1789. The Court “is the highest tribunal in the Nation for all cases and controversies arising under the Constitution or the laws of the United States,” according to its website. After New York City, the Court moved briefly to Philadelphia and then onto Washington, D.C., where it is today.

While the pet parents get into their yoga poses, like downward-facing dog, their pups get petted and held. VOA takes us to a doga class in Alexandria, Va., where people and pups are having a good time.

VIDEO: When Nigerians go to the polls Feb. 16 for general elections, few will be expecting large numbers of female candidates to win. The share of women in Nigeria’s government in the past three years has fallen to 6 percent and the top female presidential candidate, Oby Ezekwesili, withdrew from the race last week.
