VIDEO: The United States is home to many festivals, many featuring live music and regional foods. But in one West Virginia town, one festival is centered around unusual food. We’re talking about fare such as spicy bear and deer stew, rich turtle soup, alligator gumbo, possum and elk. The main ingredients are roadkill … animals killed along the local highways by passing cars.

On October 15, 1930, legendary jazz composer Duke Ellington records perhaps his most famous song, “Mood Indigo.” The song was first titled “Dreamy Blues.” Originally an instrumental, lyrics were added by Irving Mills, and the tune was renamed “Mood Indigo.” The song became a jazz standard, and over the years, has been recorded by artists such as Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong and many more.    

For many immigrants, U.S. midterm elections traditionally draw minimal interest. But this election cycle, the reaction is different, as a Democratic victory for control of the House or Senate or both would have huge repercussions for immigrant communities.

The U.S. Bill of Rights, ratified in 1791, enshrined in law the right to speech, assembly and worship. Now some congressional leaders are calling for a new bill of rights, one for the internet age. The purpose: to protect people’s personal data.

More Americans are moving to smaller cities in search of a better quality of life. They’re leaving places like Los Angeles, Chicago and New York for mid-sized cities such as Phoenix, Las Vegas and others, according to an analysis of data from the U.S. Census Bureau.

VIDEO: As the economic crisis in Venezuela deepens, the number of children asking for money or food in the streets is sharply on the rise. For some children, it means skipping school to find something to eat. They target supermarkets and restaurants and work on corners begging for money just to survive.
