VIDEO: Back to school in the U.S. is big business. As summer comes to a close and kids prepare to head back, retailers are counting on novelty items such as scented markers and glitter glue to help win back some of the market share they’ve lost to iPads and popular electronic gadgets.

On August 17, 1969, the three-day Woodstock Music & Art Fair, often referred to simply as Woodstock, ends. More than 400,000 people attended the festival, which was held at a dairy farm in southern New York State. With performers such as the Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix and The Who, among many others, Woodstock is considered one of the landmark events of the 1960s.  

Immigrants from India are becoming increasingly common at the U.S.-Mexico border. They are now the fifth-largest group after immigrants from Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador. In fiscal year 2017, 2,227 Indians were apprehended trying to cross the U.S.-Mexico border. In the first seven months of FY 2018, there were 4,197 apprehensions.

VIDEO: A U.S.-based company called NationBuilder, which provides for digital tools for online grassroots outreach, has been used around the world by campaigns, businesses and non-profits. Their clients have included French President Emmanuel Macron and British opponents of Brexit.

But a new generation of women from one of Asia’s most distinctive ethnic minorities is choosing not to follow in the fashion footsteps of their long-necked ancestors.

VIDEO: Cyber crime and cyber attacks are becoming more commonplace with some estimating it will cost the global economy trillions of dollars in just a few years. The Trump administration has announced plans to prevent a recurrence of the cyber attacks that reportedly took place during the 2016 election. VOA contributor Greta Van Susteren takes a look at the growing problem.
