On August 17, 1969, the three-day Woodstock Music & Art Fair, often referred to simply as Woodstock, ends. More than 400,000 people attended the festival, which was held at a dairy farm in southern New York State. With performers such as the Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix and The Who, among many others, Woodstock is considered one of the landmark events of the 1960s.
