Chinese military vessels are now operating in the Northern Atlantic, and Russian submarines are lurking in those same waters at a pace not seen since the end of the Cold War, the Navy’s top admiral told VOA in an exclusive interview.

On This Day in American History
On August 6, 1945, the U.S. drops an atomic bomb on the Japanese city Hiroshima.  An estimated 140,000 people are killed in the first use of a nuclear weapon in war.  U.S. President Truman authorized the bombing – and another three days later on the city of Nagasaki – to force Japan, the last remaining Axis power during World War II, to surrender quickly and avoid an invasion of the island country.

A South Korean research organization accused Russia of setting up an illicit trade network to supply oil to North Korea and evading UN sanctions.
