Being deported isn’t necessarily the worst thing migrants endure when they attempt to cross the southern border into the United States, VOA learns on a visit to Mexicali, Mexico. Running from gangs and poverty in their native countries, migrants often face kidnapping, extortion and violence along their desperate journey to build a better life in the United States.

Pennsylvania state troopers are being overzealous in helping federal authorities crack down on illegal immigrants, according to criticism from immigration lawyers and activists. As a result, state police will soon be required to fully disclose whenever they report the undocumented immigrants they stop for traffic violations.

Young white men separate from the pack when it comes to the president. A survey of young people between the ages of 16 and 24 shows 72 percent have a negative view of President Trump, but more than 4-in-10 young white men view the president favorably. Here’s what we learned after talking to young white men who back Trump.
