The Trump administration is scrambling to explain reports that it lost track of almost 1,500 immigrant children who came to the United States as unaccompanied minors. Since the story first broke in late April, public outrage has increased over these ‘missing children.’ The story has given rise to some confusion. On This Day in American History
On May 30, 1899, one of the last recorded stagecoach robberies in the United States is committed by Pearl Hart, a female outlaw in America’s Old West. Hart cut her hair short and dressed in men’s clothing before the robbery, which she committed with an accomplice named Joe Boot. They were caught and Hart was sentenced to five years in jail but was pardoned after two. (Photo: Pearl Hart at the Yuma Territorial Prison in Arizona in 1899.)
