On May 9, 1960, the U.S. becomes the first country to legalize a birth control pill when the Food and Drug Administration announces it will allow a medication called Enovid to be prescribed to prevent conception.  “The pill,” as oral contraception was widely called, is easier to use and more reliable than many other forms of birth control, giving women more control over if and when they will have children.

VOA contributor Greta Van Susteren also tackled the Iran deal on today’s episode of Plugged In.  Among the topics she and her guests considered was what impact the restored U.S. sanctions will have on Iranian citizens.

Need a refresher on how the Iran nuclear agreement came to be?  Our interactive timeline takes you from Iran being called part of the “axis of evil” to President Trump’s decision to leave the “decaying and rotten structure” of the nuclear agreement.
