Every summer Cambodian adoptees and their adoptive families from across the United States gather at a Colorado camp. Born in Cambodia, raised in America and shaped by both cultures because of their adoptive parents’ determination to educate them about their Khmer heritage, these adoptees call themselves ‘Khmerican.’ For many, the camp is the only time they meet someone like them. But the US-Cambodia adoption program was suspended in 2001, so there are no more families with camp-aged children, which leaves now grown-up former campers feeling the loss.

On January 22, 1973, the US Supreme Court establishes a woman’s legal right to choose to have an abortion in the landmark Roe v. Wade decision. Artificial intelligence is about to change the way we shop. From the roving robots that Walmart is already using to verify inventory, to the self-driving cart that shows shoppers where to find items on their grocery list, retailers are determined to keep pace with shoppers’ round-the-clock spending habits as well as their need for shopping speed.

VIDEO: Afghanistan’s arts and architecture were once the pride of Asia. But four decades of war have left many of the country’s traditional crafts on the verge of extinction.
