Striking the West as frequently as possible is the only way for Islamic State to remain relevant — and continue to outshine its jihadist competitor al-Qaida — in the aftermath of the collapse of Islamic State in Syria and Iraq, according to experts. Knowing that the terror group can still wage information warfare, radicalizing and recruiting followers, has Europe bracing for more ‘lone wolf’ attacks.

On October 11, 1793, yellow fever breaks out in Philadelphia. Known as the ‘American plague,’ the virus is spread by mosquitoes and comes to Pennsylvania via people fleeing a yellow fever epidemic in the Caribbean. By the time the plague ends — after a burst of chilly weather eliminates Philadelphia’s mosquito population — 5,000 people are dead.

An admitted addiction to smartphones is something teenagers in the US and Japan have in common. And the kids are not alone. A recent study finds a growing number of American and Japanese parents also feel they’re dependent on electronic devices.
