Thousands of Haitian migrants who set off for a better life in the US ended their journey in Mexico after being put off by tightened US immigration policy. Stranded on the south side of the border, they’re modifying their dreams and putting down roots in Mexico.

On October 6, 1866, a moving train is robbed for the first time in US history. Bandits make off with $10,000 during the Indiana heist and, as a result, robbing moving trains becomes popular among crooks in the American West. The sparsely populated, isolated areas are ideal for stopping trains, which often carry large quantities of cash and precious minerals.

Local businesses are making a difference in Las Vegas after a gunman fired into a crowd of 22,000 concertgoers, killing 59 and injuring hundreds more. From trees planted in the victims’ honor, to restaurants cooking up free meals for families and first responders, and plastic surgeons offering free procedures to gunshot victims, businesses are helping the city heal.

A steady stream of Rohingya refugees are resettling in Fort Wayne, Indiana, home to one of the largest Burmese communities in America. More than 400,000 Muslim Rohingya have fled Myanmar amidst a brutal military crackdown that a top UN official calls ‘ethnic cleansing.’ The number of Rohingya arriving in the United States has outpaced the number of Syrians who have come to this country since 2015. But once they arrive in the US, the ethnic tensions and prejudice that prompted their flight from Myanmar don’t necessarily end.

The deal on the Iran nuclear deal. President Trump is considering decertifying the 2015 Iran nuclear deal. He’s expected to announce soon whether or not his administration finds Iran to be in compliance with the terms of the deal. During the campaign, Trump said he’d like to tear the Iran nuclear deal up. Can he do that? Not exactly.
