Strapped for cash, North Korea may be turning to Bitcoin to deal with international sanctions aimed at tightening the financial noose around its nuclear and missile programs. Pyongyang is venturing into cyberspace by launching a bitcoin ‘mining’ operation. Could Bitcoin, the best-known cryptocurrency used for purchasing goods and services online, become a major source of income for Kim Jong-un’s regime?

On September 26, 1960, the two major party presidential candidates debate live on television for the first time in US history. Democrat John F. Kennedy, a Massachusetts senator, and US Vice President Richard M. Nixon, a Republican, face off in Chicago. Nixon appears nervous and perspires heavily during the event, while Kennedy, who goes on to win the election, appears more at ease.

The Trump administration wants to embrace innovation by planning for it to the tune of $200 million in grant funding annually for programs that offer science, technology, engineering, math (STEM), and computer science education. A senior administration official says the program’s goal is to give every student in the US access to technology education.

India and Japan are teaming up to try and keep China, Asia’s dominant power, in check. That could include sending patrols into the contested South China Sea — which Beijing claims about 90 percent of — or helping to arm rival maritime claimants, such as Vietnam, so they can build a defense against Beijing.
