Modern technology makes it easier than ever to be a digital nomad —a teleworker who moves from city to city exploring new places and cultures while still making a living. A growing number of hubs for these wandering workers makes it even easier for them to do the job from anywhere in the world.

On This Day in American History
On August 2, 1923, with rumors of corruption swirling around his administration, US President Warren G. Harding, 58, dies of a stroke at a San Francisco hotel. He was returning from a tour of Alaska and the West Coast, a journey some believe he went on to escape any scandals in Washington.

Fewer refugees came to the US in July than in any month since 2007. The dip comes after the Supreme Court temporarily OK’d orders that support the Trump administration’s efforts to curb the number of displaced people allowed into the country.

Somalia’s only journalism school is reopening its doors for the first time in 26 years. Many current Somali journalists only have a high school education, but the country’s National University is trying to fill the education gap. Students risk danger by signing up to become journalists in a country where at least 26 reporters were murdered in the last five years.

Video games just might be the next big thing in college sports. The competitions don’t require running, jumping or hitting, but they do involve competitors in school colors being coached in a contest that takes place not in the real world, but on a computer or video screen. And you might be surprised to know how many universities are already into esports.

VIDEO: An American drummer and photographer is out to preserve Syria’s Christian music. It all began when Jason Hamacher set out to explore the country’s religious music only to discover it wasn’t available in professionally recorded format. The only way for him to get the music was to record it in Syria.

An international sting recently resulted in the biggest dark Web criminal marketplace takedown in history. The ‘dark Web’ refers to encrypted corners of the internet that promise anonymity to customers who want to buy or sell illegal drugs, weapons and other contraband. But these futuristic marketplaces just got a lot less anonymous.
