There’s a new media voice in Washington, DC and it’s Russian. The Kremlin-funded Sputnik Radio hopes to reach more Americans with what it calls ‘alternative news.’ Sputnik says it supports an anti-establishment agenda, while critics say it’s a Kremlin propaganda machine that’s out to undermine Western institutions.

On July 13, 1960, Senator John F. Kennedy is nominated for the presidency at the Democratic Party Convention. Four months later, Kennedy narrowly defeats Vice President Richard M. Nixon, a Republican, in the general election.
