Illinois farmer Wendell Shauman is a Trump supporter, but he doesn’t agree with the president when it comes to limiting trade with Cuba. President Donald Trump plans to reverse former president Barack Obama’s efforts to ease restrictions on the Caribbean island nation. Shauman’s farming costs have increased, but the price for his crops haven’t. He’d hoped ending the US trade embargo with Cuba would boost his bottom line and continues to believe that ‘walking away from a Cuba market is just nonsense.’

On June 29, 1995, the shuttle Atlantis docks with the Russian space station Mir, forming the largest man-made satellite ever to orbit the Earth. The historic moment of cooperation between the two former space program rivals is also America’s 100th human space mission.

There’ve been more cases of measles in Minnesota this year than in the entire rest of the country combined. The virus broke out in the mostly Muslim Somali-American community which, at one time, had the highest rates of vaccinations against measles in the entire state. But then anti-vaccination groups spoke out against the MMR vaccine, which protects against measles, mumps and rubella, saying it could cause autism.

Work hard. Learn hard. One-quarter of the population in Myanmar is impoverished. One-out-of-five children between the ages 10 and 17 works to help support their families. VOA is in Yangon, where many of these working young people left school years ago, but now the classroom is coming to some of them.
