President Donald Trump’s physical stamina has been called into question during his 9-day overseas tour. The trip is a chance for the president to shine on the world stage, but it’s also triggered questions about whether the 70-year-old was fatigued when he botched a critical line in his speech to Muslim leaders. An aide did say the president was ‘exhausted’ and Trump later backed out of a scheduled speech, saying he was tired. But is there more to it than meets the eye?

On This Day in American History
On May 25, 1977, in our galaxy, the blockbuster movie Star Wars opens in US theaters. Star Wars goes on to become a pop culture phenomenon, spawning several more feature films, five TV series and an entire industry’s worth of comic books, toys, video games and other products.

China might be losing its luster in the eyes of foreign investors. American companies there say Beijing has gone backwards, piling on more regulations, taxes and local company market share protectionism. At the same time, China is expanding its geo-economic footprint with its the One Belt, One Road initiative. However, limiting foreign investment could hurt technological innovation in China.

A US commencement speech that went viral landed a US college student in trouble in her native China. Yang Shuping, who is studying in the US, compared the clean air in America with China’s polluted air. Video of her speech was viewed more than 56 million times on China’s leading social media website. That’s when the criticism started rolling in.

As if the threat from Boko Haram isn’t bad enough, communities in northeastern Nigeria are also combating hunger. Aid agencies have identified the area as one of four parts of the world at risk of famine. In Abuja, VOA learns that the situation is exacerbated because many farmers are cut off from their farms.

QUICK TAKE VIDEO: Civilians fleeing violence in Syria have taken to camping along the roadside because the refugee camps are full. The families escaped Islamic State’s de facto capital of Raqqa ahead of a US-backed offensive there. VOA met some of the displaced people in Northern Syria who say they’ve been welcomed, but that’s about it.
