| On December 19, 1777, with a bitterly cold winter setting in, the Continental Army led by Gen. George Washington enters its winter camp at Valley Forge, 22 miles from British-occupied Philadelphia. Of the 11,000 soldiers stationed at Valley Forge, hundreds will die from disease, but the suffering troops are united by their loyalty to the patriot cause and to Gen. Washington, who stays with his men despite the harsh conditions. |
