On This Day in American History
On November 17, 1973, President Richard Nixon utters the infamous words, ‘I’m not a crook,’ in response to reporter questions about his role in the Watergate burglary scandal and subsequent efforts to cover up the involvement of members of his re-election committee. The scandal eventually costs the embattled Republican the presidency, and he is forced to resign.
