As president, Donald Trump will work closely with leaders of NATO’s top member states, who happen to be women. During the campaign, Trump was accused of having a disrespectful attitude toward women, and there are questions about whether he’ll sustain America’s commitment to defend members of the world’s most powerful alliance. Observers anticipate some awkward moments.

On This Day in American History
On November 10, 1969, ‘Sesame Street,’ the pioneering American television show that will teach generations of young children the alphabet and how to count, makes its debut. More than 74 million Americans go on to watch ‘Sesame Street’ over the years.

Pennsylvania’s electoral college votes have gone to Democrats for almost 30 years, but in one of many election night surprises, the battleground state went to Donald Trump. The president-elect’s supporters played a grassroots ground game that helped deliver a Trump win.

Hillary Clinton’s defeat is seen as a blow to feminism by some, including parents who are struggling to explain the loss to their young daughters. Exit polls show more white women chose Republican Donald Trump over Clinton. That made us wonder whether women candidates face gender discrimination from voters who won’t admit as much to pollsters.

Muslim Americans are bracing for life under a new president who once proposed banning foreign Muslims from entering the United States. Those comments made some Muslim Americans wary of his candidacy, and many were shocked at his victory. Now they worry about how his presidency will impact their lives.

VIDEO EXPLAINER: The new digs. President Obama welcomed President-elect Donald Trump to the White House today. He showed the future president around the executive mansion. The meeting is part of a tradition that is at the heart of American democracy: a smooth transition of power.

Terror groups are among those celebrating the results of the presidential election, hoping it will attract more fighters to join their cause. Some believe Donald Trump’s victory marks the beginning of ‘America’s fragmentation.’ On social media, an al-Qaida-linked cleric tweeted that Trump’s election exposes the true racist, anti-Muslim mentality of Americans that Trump’s predecessors kept under wraps.

After the fall, comes revenge. The finger pointing has already begun as the territory controlled by the Islamic State shrinks. VOA is in Mosul, where there are fears that people who suffered under the terror group’s control could now go looking for revenge, leading to a bloodbath in Iraq’s second largest city.

The rich are getting richer in China, despite an economic slowdown there. Mainland China now has more billionaires than the United States. Reporting from Beijing, VOA looks at how the increased wealth of a few hundred individuals and families has resulted in massive capital flight.
