Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald Trump meet again for their final presidential debate in Las Vegas tonight. Trump has slipped in the polls in the wake of a video in which he describes groping women and allegations of inappropriate behavior from several women, at a time when he needs to win college-educated white women. Clinton could play it safe tonight because she believes she has the lead, while a trailing Trump might just go for broke.
On This Day in American History
On October 18, 1781, a decisive victory is won at Yorktown, Virginia, after 8,000 British soldiers and seamen surrender to a larger Franco-American force, effectively bringing the American Revolution to an end.
Breaking up is never easy. Just ask Britain, where the value of the pound dropped — at one point to a 31-year low — after Britons voted in June to leave the European Union. There are signs of further drops to come and indications the country could be headed for a hard, costly Brexit.
Cheater, Cheater. Students cheating on exams is nothing new. What is new is how young people are doing it. Forget about finding answers written on their hands. Smart technology has transformed cheating with contact lenses that capture, transmit and receive images or by using super high-frequency ring tones on their phones that teachers can’t hear. With 98 percent of high school students carrying mobile devices, it’s not easy to catch and stop this high-tech cheating.
