It’s back to the main contenders in the U.S. presidential campaign, with Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald Trump set for their second debate on Sunday. Their running mates — Virginia Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine and Indiana Republican Gov. Mike Pence — sparred for 90 minutes Tuesday night. The outcome of Sunday’s upcoming debate could come down to self-control.

On This Day in American History
On October 5, 1947, U.S. President Harry Truman makes the first-ever televised presidential address from the White House. He asks Americans to cut back on grain in order to help starving Europeans, who are recovering from World War II and suffering from famine.

Recent dramatic revelations about Donald Trump’s tax returns underscore America’s curiosity about the finances of its presidential candidates. Financial documents have been made public by every major party presidential candidate, other than Trump, since 1976. The documents reveal certain things about candidates that help American voters get to know them a little better.

The Vietnamese community in Houston, Texas, has grown from a few hundred people to well over 100,000 since the end of the Vietnam War in 1975. The community is fed partly by immigrants from Vietnam, but also includes people from larger Vietnamese communities in California seeking jobs and a lower cost of living.

Britain’s ruling Conservative party was once seen as the party of business, but the government plans to restrict immigration, tighten tests on companies that want to recruit overseas, and require firms to publish details of foreigners on their staffs in what is being seen as a ‘naming and shaming’ exercise. The proposals have the business community fearing the economic consequences of a so-called ‘hard Brexit’.
