Is this the funeral of the future? After we die, our digital life lives on, especially on social media platforms where our digital footprint is firmly established. An ambitious new project helps people plan their virtual afterlife and funeral, creating a walking, talking avatar that allows grieving friends and family to ‘visit’ with their loved one, even after death.

On This Day in American History
On Sept. 2, 1969, the first automatic teller machine (ATM) in the United States opens in New York. ATMs eventually revolutionize banking by doing away with the need to visit the bank for basic financial transactions.

More tourists are staying away from Belgium after recent terror attacks. Death by a pack of mad dogs. Execution by anti-aircraft gun. Many of us can’t help being riveted by salacious news stories out of North Korea that seem to illustrate leader Kim Jong Un’s unhinged ruthlessness. The problem is that it’s hard for reporters to separate fact from fiction.

QUICK TAKE VIDEO: It isn’t easy to be a saint. Mother Teresa, who worked tirelessly for the poor, will become one this weekend, 19 years after her death. We wondered what the actual requirements are for sainthood. It turns out they’re pretty rigorous.
