That was then, this is now  Eight years after their own hard-fought nomination battle, President Barack Obama gave an impassioned speech outlining why former rival Hillary Clinton should succeed him as president. Clinton, who is set to accept the Democratic presidential nomination this evening, has been named the country’s most admired woman for the last 14 years, but a majority of U.S. voters say they don’t trust her. Can she change people’s minds before it’s too late?

On July 28,1868, any questions about the citizenship of African-Americans in the aftermath of the Civil War are cleared up when the 14th Amendment, which states, “all persons born or naturalized in the United States…are citizens of the United States and of the state in which they reside,” is adopted into the U.S. Constitution.

Yes, there are Americans who can’t vote in the presidential election and we’re not talking about convicts. Some of these people are highly-respected delegates at this week’s Democratic National Convention. But, come November, their vote for president will not count.
