Who’s with Hillary? Now that the presumptive nominee has chosen Sen. Tim Caine as her running mate, focus turns to the party’s convention, which starts today in Philadelphia. The convention begins under a cloud of controversy with the resignation of DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz, after hacked emails suggested party leaders tried to undermine Sen. Bernie Sanders’ presidential bid. Now, one of Clinton’s biggest challenges, especially when it comes to passionate Bernie Sanders supporters, is to give people a reason to vote for her, and not just against Donald Trump.

On This Day in American History
On July 25, 1898, U.S. forces invade Puerto Rico, a territory of Spain, during the Spanish-American War, which led to the island’s eventual status as a commonwealth of the United States, giving the U.S. authority over its 1 million residents.

They’re a miniscule percentage of the U.S. electorate, but American Muslims could play a pivotal role in the upcoming presidential election. Muslims represent less than 2 percent of the country’s population, but they tend to live in strategic places — swing states like Florida, Ohio and Virginia.

Recycling is a lifeline for Lebanon’s last glassblowers. Glass blowing is an art that developed in the region more than 2,000 years ago but, in the era of mass production, it’s in danger of being lost forever. Enter a well known eco-entrepreneur and waste management company owner who helped blow new life into the ancient art form.

VOA is in Iraq for a one-on-one interview with Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani. The Kurdish leader spoke about the prospect of independence, the importance of friendly relations with Iran, and the preparations underway to retake Mosul from the Islamic State terror group.

Meet the murderer? VOA is in Cambodia delving into the background of the man accused of killing a political analyst who spoke out against government corruption. Friends and relatives of the ex-monk describe him as a gambler with no money, and find it hard to believe he’s a killer.

When you think of New York City, goats are probably not the first thing that come to mind. But that’s not the case with the folks looking after the Brooklyn Bridge Park who came up with the goat gardener program.
