What’s Hillary really like? We asked journalists who have covered the Clintons for decades about the first female presumptive presidential nominee of a major U.S. political party, who say negative sexist attacks and revelations of her husband’s infidelity “built up a lot of scar tissue.”

On June 8, 1967, the American intelligence vessel, USS Liberty, is attacked by Israeli aircraft and torpedo boats in international waters off the Gaza Strip. Thirty-four Americans were killed and 171 wounded during the two-hour attack. Israel later apologized, saying it had mistaken the Liberty for an Egyptian ship.
